Rabbi Rachel A. Marder

Rabbi Marder is thrilled to begin her rabbinic career at Congregation Beth El. She graduated from the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies in 2018 where she was a Wexner graduate fellow. She graduated magna cum laude from Brandeis University with a BA in Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies, and from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem with an MA in Conflict Research, Management, and Resolution.

A native Angelina, Rabbi Marder served as the rabbinic intern at Temple Beth Am in Los Angeles for two years where she taught a monthly Torah study class and Talmud for Beginners. She has taught at IKAR, Camp Ramah in Ojai, and through the Shalom Hartman Institute's iengage program on Israel. Rabbi Marder made aliyah and lived in Israel for several years. During those years she worked as a writer and editor at The Jerusalem Post, and wrote features for Jewish News Service.

Rabbi Marder contributed a chapter to The Sacred Calling: Four Decades of Women in the Rabbinate, and wrote for At the Well's publication, Wrestling with Menstruation.

She is happily married to Hilly Haber, who is completing her final year of rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York.
