Congregation Beth El is partnering with Etgar 26, a nonprofit Jewish educational venture, to go on a civil rights trip to Georgia and Alabama from early morning, Sunday October 31- late night Tuesday, November 2, 2021. During this trip, our teenagers will attend church services at Ebenezer Baptist Church, visit the Equal Justice Initiative's Legacy Museum, the Memorial for Peace and Justice Lynching Memorial, the Rosa Parks Musem, the Southern Poverty Law Center Civil Rights Memorial, walk across the Edmund Pettus Bridge, tour Freedom Park and visit the 16th Street Baptist Church, and more. This trip is open to all Beth El teens in 8th-12th grade (as of 9/2021). PLEASE NOTE: ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED (14 DAYS POST-SECOND SHOT) IN ORDER TO ATTEND THIS TRIP!
Registration for this trip includes all meals, round trip flights, and hotel stays. Participants will share a hotel room (4 per room). All meals will be dairy or vegetarian. The subsidized total cost of the trip is $850. Our Teen Program Coordinator, Talia Feldman, and Rabbi Olitzky will serve as chaperones on this trip.
